Break through the surface to explore the living, breathing ecosystem beneath our feet. “Dirt” — a new documentary about saving our soil — delves into how Arkansas farmers, ranchers and more are improving their operations by helping the environment. “Dirt” is a 2023 nominee of the 47th Annual Mid-America Emmy® Award in the category of Documentary – Cultural and a winner in the category of Audio Post-Production. “Dirt” is a finalist for the 55th Public Media Award in the Content category for Topical Feature. The Public Media Awards honor NETA members’ finest work in content, community engagement, marketing/communications and education.

Seven Minutes: The Legacy of Bryant

During football half-time across the state, Arkansas high school competition bands dazzle with intricate orchestration, professional-level showmanship, and enough energy to rival the players on the field. A year of preparation can go into a seven-and-a-half-minute show you see at the state marching band competition. AR PBS followed Bryant High School’s band “The Legacy of Bryant” to get an inside look into the work that went into their seven minutes.

Growing Hope: Combating Stress in Agriculture

According to the CDC, workers in the farming, fishing, and forestry industries have some of the highest suicide rates of any occupation. A panel of experts will discuss the deterioration of the mental health of the American farmer. Segments include: a look at yoga for farmers, cutting costs to reduce financial stress, and the QPR method of talking about suicide. “Growing Hope: Combating Stress in Agriculture” is funded through a Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network grant provided by the United States Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA NIFA), and administered by the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.

Worth Fighting For: An Arkansas Veteran Special

In “Worth Fighting For,” Arkansas PBS delves into the struggle to save veteran lives as suicide rates rise. An experienced panel discusses matters such as mental health resources, coping with loss and other problems that can lead to suicide ideation, the warning signs and symptoms, and things families and friends can do to help the veterans close to them.
